Immigration detention is an incredibly stressful and frightening experience for everyone involved. However if you are living in Canada without valid status, you are always at risk of being detained by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). If you or someone you know is being detained for an immigration-related offence, it is essential that you talk to someone who can advise you on how to get out of detention.
In order to get out of detention, you usually need a family member or friend who can act as your bondsperson, who must often provide a cash or performance bond and provide you with a place to live if you are released. The bondsperson must be able to supervise you and make sure that you report to any appointments with immigration.
Our firm may be able to assist you while you are being detained. You must also consider what pathways are the most appropriate for you to get status in Canada.
