If you would like to immigrate to Canada to work, there are several pathways that may help you.
Express Entry is a program that allows foreign nationals to gain permanent resident status in Canada based on a points system. After you’ve applied, your name is put into a pool of applicants, and the applicants with the highest scores get the chance to be invited to apply for permanent residence. If you have at least one university degree and good English or French language skills, and are thirty years old or younger, you may apply through the Express Entry stream. Applicants with other profiles may also have strong applications. There is no one-size fits all solution, and if you are thinking about applying through Express Entry, you may call or e-mail us to get answers to your questions.
The Provincial Nominee Program is another way for you to gain permanent resident status if you have a university degree and are a working professional from abroad, but do not have enough points to qualify through the Express Entry program.
The Canadian Experience Class stream is for people who have been working full-time in Canada either as a skilled tradesperson or as a working professional. This can include international students who have graduated and have been working Canada in their field of study.
You may also come to Canada under one of the Caregiver Pathways. If you have experience caring for children or elderly people with special medical needs, you may qualify to come to Canada as a caregiver. Once you are offered a job with a Canadian employer, you must complete at least 24 months or 3900 hours of caregiver work within a four year period and then you will be eligible to apply for permanent residence for yourself and your dependents. Please contact our office directly to see if this is an option for you.
Study
If you have been accepted into a university, college or accredited educational institution in Canada, you can come here on a study permit. Some permits also permit you to work for a certain number of hours while studying in Canada. Studying in Canada can also be a pathway to permanent residence, by obtaining a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) and applying through this stream.
